There are many different ways to cast on when you're knitting a project. Here I have created a video demonstration of the loop method, which is also known as the half-hitch method.
This can be used to start a project but is more likely to be used in the middle of a row, when covering a buttonhole or adding a couple of stitches to the end of a row for shaping in steps.
