That doesn't sounds too difficult!
When you start decreasing more frequently, you're likely to see decreasing abbreviations on every row, not just every knit row. You'll more likely find p2tog and p2tog tbl if you're knitting on single-pointed needles as the designer will use all options available to achieve the envisioned look.
I have two methods for you here today - as I cloned this myself and have found an easier way to create mirrored shaping with the alternative approach.
