This listing is for the online course only, not an in-person workshop.
Each module is presented inside password-protected areas of my website. You’ll be given details of how to access this once you complete your purchase.
Who is this for?
The Crafty Cables: Level 1 course is for anyone who has knitted beginner’s knits with knit and purl stitches before and wants to add more interesting features to their future projects.
If you are a complete beginner, I suggest buying this course in conjunction with the Novice Knitter courses. If you do this, within a few months you’ll be right on your way to creating wow-worthy knits!
Why do you need it?
It’s easier to learn from video tutorials rather than following patterns and written instructions. And these step-by-step modules go through every stage of the knits, so your instructions are all in one place.
We’ll be knitting the same items together as you follow through the course- which won’t be the case if you’re trying to learn from YouTube or Wiki-How tutorials.
Learning the cable technique is just the first step, I’ll support you in conquering the next steps:
- how to do cables on both side of the knitting- the right and wrong sides,
- how to combine cabling and shaping techniques in the same item,
- and how to use 2 cabling techniques in one knit to increase the intricacy of the pattern.
Why buy from me?
I teach knitting and understand that knitting skills need to be taught and practiced within niches so they can become easier and more automatic.
I have been knitting for almost forty years and have been designing since 2008. I began teaching knitting when my friends at school needed help, and this has continued with friends and family ever since. I’m the once who people ask for help with their knitting, and I have a knack of knowing how to help knitters move further with their skills so they become independent and confident knitters.
You can guarantee that when I give a course a title and focus on a skillset and knowledge level you will not be asked to reach any further than the Meets Expectations grade in your OWLS knitting exams at Hogwarts!
This course is for knitters who have the foundation skills already in place.
There are 3 things I suggest for knitters if you want to begin cabling:
- that you can switch comfortably between knit and purl stitches on the same row.
- that you are able to identify which stitches come next across a row- is it a knit or purl?
- and can you count your rows, so you’re sure of where you are in your pattern?
All these techniques will be covered in the course, but it’s good to have knitted before and to have a general idea, if not full knowledge of them before you start.
Secret knitting jargon is included, but only when absolutely necessary! And I give full video support for each item, including fixing any crises which might occur.
