How To Weave In Yarn Ends

by Hannah Gilly

April 3, 2018

If there's any sewing to do while you're finishing your knits there will be ends of yarn to be woven in. And let's face it there's always the cast on edge too, which has to start somewhere, and that's another loose end of yarn.

How to weave in ends so they are less vulnerable to unravelling back to the starting point is an age-old dilemma. One person says one thing and another says something else.

If you pick up two knitting books from the library there will likely be a couple of different solutions. Or they won't mention it at all- as it's one of those things that is just breezed over as a final stage in a long pattern.  In that case I understand, this very small, quick task can seem insignificant in a pattern filled with interesting shaping, texture techniques, picking up stitches, maybe setting in sleeves and fair isle yokes along with it.

I have tried and tested various options. Some unravel at the faintest glance, but this solution stays the distance, and I recommend it to everyone.
