Sewing Seams In Knitting – 3 Methods

by Hannah Gilly

There’s a danger with knitted seams

Seaming can become a last-minute job that gets left behind, so the project ends up as a WIP sat in the naughty corner.

Don’t deny it, if it’s true!

As a knitter who’s always loved sewing too, for me it’s not something I’ll leave behind and only pick up grudgingly. So can I help you?

Yes, I can!

If you fancy switching between them as you’re finishing a cardigan mixing up the methods is ideal for seam sewing to make the job interesting. Different seam styles are also useful for different projects depending on how much time you want to give them and how much agitation and wear the finished item will have.

As an example, I’m going to demonstrate with a set of lavender bags today. They won’t get moved around much once they’re in use, and it won’t matter if one seam is slightly stronger or neater than others.
Take a look, I’ve got three methods for you today, ideal to follow after last week’s casting off video.
