How To s1, k2tog, psso

This little collection of knitting jargon achieves one thing... it decreases your stitches on a knit row. Most importantly it decreases three stitches into one. Just like the k3tog we learned last week. (click here to see that video too) And if you're looking for a dramatic affect, this is the way to go! You'll likely see this when creating lace fabric so that the decreases slant towards or away from each other when you are knitting a symmetrical design. Coupling this with k3tog will achieve that very easily and you'll have lots of (intentional!) holes in-between to compensate. If you're knitting up some small items such as Christmas decorations or knitted toys you might also use this to create a faster decrease and give a sharper shaping to the fabric.
