English Knitting Style – which fingers do what?

Knitting smoothly and with flow

When it comes to knitting it may not be obvious how much the fingers work together while also being independent.

You might feel the yarn winding up in a knot and your fingers aching after a knitting session. If you've not quite settled into a rhythm yet that's normal, but frustrating.

It needn't take long for the comfortable movements to start becoming natural as you knit, so I'll share with you today what I do as I knit with the English Traditional Style of knitting.

Watch as I knit and purl and show you what my left and right fingers do in collaboration and independently to create a smooth, flowing motion for each stitch.
