Knitting Garter Stitch – Striping on the ‘right side’

Knitting every row gives you what is known as garter stitch

Thanks to the repeated knit stitch, it's easy to get confused over which is the 'right side'. Both sides looking the same means we have to look much closer.

It's also easy to mess it up when repeating stripes along a longer piece of knitting, as opposite sides of striping look the same but also different. 
(I know, it's kinda confusing!)
