A classic cable mitts knitting pattern with a twist—warmth, function, and timeless texture in every stitch.
If you love the satisfying rhythm of cable knitting, these fingerless mitts are a must-knit. Designed to keep your hands warm while your fingers remain free for everyday essentials—scrolling, unlocking the door, picking blackberries, or grabbing that takeaway coffee—they’re practical, beautiful, and full of character.
🧶 A Story Twisted into Stitches
Cabling has been a part of my knitting journey since the late 1990s. Over time, I’ve grown to love the quiet structure it brings—those twists and turns that add texture and movement to even the simplest project.
The Double Twist Mitts were among the first fingerless pairs I designed. I wanted to knit something that gave warmth where it mattered—around the wrist and thumb—while leaving fingers free. The double cable motif creates structure without bulk, and makes this project a joy to knit and wear.
