Wrap and turn gives some fabulous results. The shaping options are endless once you begin adding these skills to your knitters tool kit of knowledge!
You might come across this abbreviation when knitting jumpers, sweaters or cardigans as you shape sleeves and collars.
Perhaps you’ll find it in shawl patterns when giving interesting flourishes to the edges.
And this is a likely feature when giving bulk to knitted toys, Christmas ornaments and tea cosies. So it’s well worth knowing!

Wrapping and turning – also known as short rows – on the purl row doesn’t give quite as clean a result as wrap and turn on a knit row. But with knitting we do the best we can and it definitely offers more to your knitting as you learn these extra techniques.
