Yarn Swatches – my collection

by Hannah Gilly

April 23, 2021

I've knitted a lot of swatches in my time.

And that number has increased in recent years.
I used to test yarns by knitting up someone else's knitting pattern.

But what if I wanted to do something different with the yarn, like striping or cables?
Would the yarn still behave as I hoped?

When I'm creating a pattern or just seeing if I'd like to knit further with a yarn I'll knit up multiple swatches. I might even test three yarns against each other so I can choose one for the finished pattern.

Take a look today at my collection of yarn swatches, see some sneak peeks at what's coming up in the knitting kit shop this Spring and maybe you'll be inspired to start knitting some swatches yourself.
