How To Knit Garter Stitch

Are you a new knitter who’s starting to find themselves confused by ‘knitter’s jargon’?

Everybody has to go through this at some point. Some things are so obvious to an experienced knitter, and not to the beginner. And it’s so frustrating! I remember going to our local W.I. on a Friday morning, when I’d come across a simple instruction in a knitting pattern.

Without digressing too far, don’t you just love those simple village markets with honey in jars, straight from the hive, chives and forget-me-nots in tubs, ready for the garden, and Stan’s organic veg, that he has been growing the same way for decades? Not to mention the tables filled with sewn and knitted toys, blankets, baby cardigans and bunting.

Back to my point… I had no idea what it meant, but it was ‘so obvious’ to the lady who showed me what that jargon meant.
And that’s the thing with garter stitch. It’s a fancy name for a very simple fabric. Take a look to find out more. 🙂

If you’d like to see the bracelet pattern that i showed you in the video, it’s now released in my pattern shop, with a bundle of more knit stitch beginner’s patterns.
