We don't have to wait until December to start knitting for Christmas

Yes, really!

A few years ago I actually started knitting for Christmas in February and it worked so well. I also managed some sewing in the summer so dotted a few sewn family gifts in there too. But seeing different and inspiring patterns appear throughout the year kept me going and kept me knitting.

I was trying out new yarns, new needles, new techniques and stitch patterns. I even pulled out my crochet hook and crocheted a couple of gifts too - a pair of 'mother and me' stripey scarves with left-over yarn from other projects.

In four months' time it will be Christmas Eve. So if you'd like to wrap a few knitted gifts now is the time to start.

This week's video shares some suggestions and tips on planning along with how you can knit cannily to make it easier and faster to knit through the items you'd like to complete.
